The Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel (CSMA) and also known as the Michaelite Fathers, is a religious order of the Roman Catholic Church founded in 1897 by the Blessed Father Bronislaw Markiewicz, a Polish priest from Miejsce Piastowe, Poland.                                                                                               Celebrating this Year, the 100th anniversary of the canonical approval of our religious family, we are making a spiritual pilgrimage to the foundations of the Michael's charism. Moved by the encouragement of St. John Paul II, we remember the past with gratitude, we live the present with all our hearts and we open ourselves to the future with confidence. We consider all the great things that our Good God has accomplished over the past century by involving our community in the work of spreading the Kingdom of God in the modern world.
It is with the great joy that we look at visible effects of our efforts and dedication filled with God’s blessing in the fields of educations, running schools and oratories, work in parish and Sanctuaries, missions, publication, retreat centers.
The Congregation now operates in a number of places and parishes around the world. We run orphanages, schools and youth centres and work with unprivileged, handicapped, abandoned and poor children including missionary work in 15 countries such as Poland, Argentina, Paraguay, Italy, Germany, Belarus, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Austria and Canada, Aruba, Ukraine, the Dominican Republic, Porto Rico. The Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the 23 officially recognised groups of the Salesian Family of Don Bosco.
Michalites Fathers spread the devotion to Saint Michael and the Holy Angels. They are the guardians of the shrine of Saint Michael the Archangel in Monte Sant’Angelo in Italy. The priests and brothers also run a publishing house so- called “Michalineum” and publish a bi-monthly magazine “St Michael” and” The Angels” in Polish and in English.

We are one family in Christ, brothers and sister who worship and pray together as a community. We have also worked together to accomplish many things both spiritual and material. From the beginning of the parish in the 50’s, to where it stands today, much hard work and dedication has gone into this parish.
United by Christ’s love, we are succeeding as a parish.

Jako jedna rodzina parafialna zespolonym wysiłkiem dążymy do budowania naszej wspólnoty. Pod przemożną opieką Maryi, Królowej Pokoju dzielimy się radością i szczęściem, wspieramy w zmaganiu z bólem, niemocą i cierpieniem. Wspólną pracą przyczyniamy się do umacniania więzów miłości i jedności. Razem podejmowany trud sprawia, że nam jest ze sobą coraz lepiej, a miejsce, w którym się gromadzimy na Uczcie Eucharystycznej, staje się coraz piękniejsze.

The history of the Parish of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, dates back to 1952.
A group of Poles living in Sarnia, referring to the document "Exsul Familia-Exiled Family" issued by Pope Pius XII, asked His Excellency, Fr. Bishop C. Cody for the creation of the Polish Catholic Mission in Sarnia.
Services were held in the hall of Our Lady of Mercy school and the priest, Fr. Franciszek Bardel, commuted from Orchard Lake Michigan.
First Holy Mass was celebrated on August 17, 1952.

Początki historii Parafii Matki Bożej Królowej Pokoju przypadają na rok 1952.
Grupa Polaków zamieszkujących w Sarni powołując się na wydany przez Papieża Piusa XII dokument „ Exsul Familia-Wygnańcza Rodzina” , zwróciła się z prośbą do Jego Ekselencji Ks. Biskupa C. Cody o utworzenie Polskiej Katolickiej Misji w Sarni.
Nabożeństwa odprawiane były w sali szkoły Our Lady of Mercy a duszpasterz , ks. Franciszek Bardel, dojeżdżał z Orchard Lake Michigan.
Pierwsza Msza Św. odprawiona została 17 sierpnia 1952r.

1957
In 1957, funds raised by parishioners purchased an unfinished church from the Lutheran community at the corner of George and College Streets.

W 1957r. za zebrane przez parafian fundusze zakupiono niedokończony kościół od gminy luterańskiej na rogu ulic George i College.

1958
The new church consecrated by His Excellency JC Cody on May 4, 1958. On May 22, Fr. Józef Pućka became our new pastor.
July 5, 1958, The Polish Mission received the status of a parish under the invocation of Our Lady Queen of Poland. On August 28, 1958, the Catholic Women's League was established in the parish.

Nowy kościół poswięcił Jego Ekselencja J.C. Cody 4 maja 1958 r. 22 maja nowym duszpasterzem został ks. Józef Pućka.
5 lipca 1958r. Polska Misja otrzymała status parafii pod wezwaniem Królowej Korony Polskiej.
28 sierpnia 1958 r. w parafii powstała Katolicka Liga Kobiet.

1959
In 1959, the corner property of Rosedale Ave and Ellwood Ave was purchased for the construction of a new church and rectory.

W roku 1959 zakupiono plac przy Rosedale Ave. i Ellwood Ave. pod budowę nowej świątyni i plebanii.

1961
In 1961 the rectory was built with the joint efforts of the parishioners of that time.

W 1961r. wspólnymi siłami ówczesnych parafian zbudowano plebanię.

1968
In 1968 by a decree signed by His Excellence Bishop London G. Carter, the status of the parish was changed into territorial and the name of the parish to Our Lady, Queen of Peace.

W 1968r. dekretem podpisanym przez Jego Ekselencję Biskupa London G. Cartera zmieniono status parafii na terytorialny a nazwę na parafię pod wezwaniem Matki Boskiej Królowej Pokoju.

1969
The new church was consecrated by His Excellency Bishop G. Carter on December 14, 1969.

Poświęcenia nowej świątyni dokonał Jego Ekselencja Biskup G. Carter 14 grudnia 1969r.

1981
In 1981, the long-time parish priest, Fr. J. Pućka retired and his place was taken by Fr. W. Gutowski.
Under his leadership, some changes and improvements were made to the church and the rectory. One of the changes was the replacement of chairs in the church with beautiful pews.  All costs were covered by the parishioners and Polish organizations in Sarnia.

W 1981 r. odszedł na emeryturę długoletni proboszcz ks. J. Pućka a jego miejsce zajął ks. W. Gutowski.
Pod jego kierownictwem dokonano pewnych zmian i ulepszeń w kościele i na plebanii. Jedną ze zmian było zastąpienie krzeseł w kościele pięknymi ławkami. Wszystkie koszta pokrywane były przez parafian i organizacje polonijne w Sarni.


1990
In 1990 Fr. Gutowski was transferred and Fr. Z. Rodzinka was appointed as priest.
A new young energetic priest proposed to make changes to the church.
Thanks to him and the joint work with the parishioners, the interior of the church was changed - a new beautiful altar was built.
Work on the construction of the altar was carried out by the priest and parishioners. The figures for the altar were funded by Polish organizations and parishioners.
At that time, the parish also helped new immigrants coming from Poland.

W 1990r. miejsce ks. Gutowskiego przejął ks. Z. Rodzinka.
Osiem lat pobytu ks. Rodzinki w parafii były bardzo pracowite.
Dzięki wspólnej pracy zmienione zostało wnętrze kościoła - zbudowano nowy piękny ołtarz.
Prace przy budowie ołtarza prowadzone były przez księdza i parafian. Figury do ołtarza ufundowane zostały przez organizacje polonijne i parafian.
W tym czasie parafia pomagała również nowym imigrantom przyjeżdżającym z Polski.

1998
In 1998, Fr. Rodzinka was moved to Melrose, and in his place was Fr. S. Sołtysik.

W roku 1998 ks. Rodzinkę przeniesiono do Melrose a na jego miejsce przyszedł ks. S. Sołtysik.

2002
2002 World Youth Days were held in Canada. Our parish hosted over 100 people from Poland and Swaziland for a week.

2002 r.w Kanadzie odbywały się Dni Młodzieży. Nasza parafia gościła przez tydzień ponad 100 osób z Polski i Swaziland.

2005
In 2005, Catholics felt the sad news of the death of Pope John Paul II. Our parish organized a march through Sarnia streets and a Holy Mass to celebrate the late Pope John Paul II.

W 2005 katolików dotknęła smutna wiadomość o śmierci Papieża Jana Pawła II. Nasza parafia zorganizowała przemarsz ulicami Sarni i Mszę św. dla uczczenia śp. Papieża Jana Pawła II.

2007
In 2007 Father Rodzinka returns to the parish. At that time, in Sarnia, churches are combined into clusters.
Parishioners from other churches join the parish, especially from the closed church of St. Peter. The cooperation is going well and we quickly become one parish family.

W 2007r. wraca do parafii ks. Rodzinka. W tym czasie w Sarni łączone są kościoły w tzw. clusters.
Do parafii dołączają parafianie z innych kościołów a szczególnie z zamkniętego kościoła Św. Piotra. Współpraca układa się dobrze i szybko stajemy się jedną rodziną parafialną.

2009
In 2009, the new pastor is Fr. Chudy. One of the major undertakings at that time was the creation of the John Paul II chapel.

W 2009 r. nowym duszpasterzem jest ks. W Chudy. Jednym z większych przedsięwzięć w tym czasie było utworzenie kaplicy Jana Pawła II.

2013
In 2013, Fr. Eugeniusz Dziedzic.

W 2013 r. pracę w parafii rozpoczął ks. Eugeniusz Dziedzic.

2015
In 2015, the new priest of our parish was Fr. Jan Pochwała.

W 2015 r. nowym kapłanem naszej parafii był ks. Jan Pochwała.

2016
In 2016, Fr. Z. Rodzinka.

W 2016 r. do parafii wrócił ks. Z. Rodzinka.

2020
In 2020, Father Jan Burczyk became the parish priest.

W 2020 r. duszpasterzem parafii został ks.Jan Burczyk.

2021

Since 1990, the order of Michalites Fathers has been working in our parish, to whom we are grateful for their spiritual guidance and the creation of a parish sensitized to the needs of others.

Od 1990 roku w naszej parafii pracują Księża Michalici, którym jesteśmy wdzięczni za ich przewodnictwo duchowe i stworzenie parafii uczulonej na potrzeby innych.
