St. Michael CWL Hosts the 2026 World Day of Prayer - March 6, 2026Our World Day of Prayer celebration was truly a vibrant gathering. We had planned for 50 guests and were delighted to welcome 74 people. Guests were warmly welcomed with homemade corsages and boutonnières, and each person received a handmade bracelet or bookmark blessed by Father Michael as a keepsake symbolizing the textile story shared in the prayer service.The spirit of the day was beautifully reflected in the many thoughtful touches that filled the gathering. The narthex, meeting room, and sanctuary were decorated with lovely Nigerian items that created a colourful and joyful atmosphere, and many participants dressed in vivid Nigerian clothing.The service was enriched by beautiful music, including percussion instruments, expressive readers, and the prayerful participation of all who attended.The offertory became a celebration in itself, with a dancing procession through the church as participants moved joyfully to Nigerian music, with Father Michael accompanying on the drums. Our donations totaled $1,385.00 in support of the World Day of Prayer.Following the service, we gathered for a lovely lunch. Our CWL team created a welcoming environment and prepared a delicious meal of fruit, vegetables, buns with meat and egg salad, a Nigerian rice dish, and desserts donated by our members. Guests were intentionally seated with new companions to help us connect with old friends and make new acquaintances within our community.Many participants shared how inspired they were by our celebration and look forward to bringing some of these ideas to their own services. Several people also commented on how much fun they had, reflecting the passion and joy with which Nigerian women celebrate their faith.Behind the scenes, our CWL planning team had many meetings and hours of work that went into creating this meaningful event. We are blessed to have so many creative and dedicated ladies who work so well together. The passion and care of everyone involved was clearly felt throughout the day. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this day so special!

December 10th 2025 CWL General Meeting
The Christmas Spirit was alive as approximately 45 CWL members and special guests gathered at Huron Oaks for our annual Christmas Dinner and General Meeting that took place on December 10th, 2025 - and what a joyful celebration it was! The excitement and fellowship were especially fitting as we enter the third week of Advent, when we light the pink candle - the Candle of Joy - reminding us that the coming of Christ brings hope and gladness to our hearts. Advent is a season of waiting, but also of rejoicing because our Savior is near - and rejoice did we ever!
Our evening began with a beautiful reflection at the church, led by our Faith Pillar Lead, Christine Bresette, with music provided by Deb Hoek, Mary Ann Hucker and Larry Palmer. Christine spoke on the theme of Silent Night, sharing a powerful message about quieting our hearts, being still, and making time for God - even if it’s just 10 minutes a day.
After the reflection, we traveled to Huron Oaks for a delicious meal and continued our meeting.

Quilt Raffle Winners
What a thrill that two of the three winners of our Quilt Raffle this year were CWL members who happened to be present at the meeting! Congratulations to Donna Stewart and Kelley Elliott, winners of two stunning Canada-themed quilts - treasures that will surely be cherished for years to come!A Special Christmas Gift to Our Spiritual Advisor – Father Michael
During our meeting, we also presented a special gift to Father Michael – as a token of our appreciation and gratitude. Our members gifted him a Spiritual Bouquet - lovingly prepared from the prayers, rosaries, Mass intentions and other acts of service and devotions contributed by our members. And we also gifted Father his very own CWL sweater! Father was a bit envious of our CWL cardigans and wanted a sweater of his own, so we surprised him with one, and now he can look even more stylish while proudly representing the CWL!
And Even Santa Made an Appearance!
To close out the evening, Larry Palmer led us in a lively singalong of festive Christmas carols. As voices filled the room with joyful melodies, we had a surprise visitor - Santa himself! He arrived with treats for our ‘good’ CWL members and even joined Larry at the mic to lend his own vocals to the celebration. It was a wonderful, spirited way to end a memorable night!

June 2nd 2025 CWL Executive MeetingMonday June 2nd, 2025, we held our final CWL Executive Meeting before the summer break at St. Joseph’s Hospice. After our meeting we were provided an insightful tour. St. Joseph’s Hospice is one of the many organizations our CWL Council proudly supports through our fundraising efforts, and this visit provided us with a meaningful opportunity to learn about the invaluable services they provide to all residents of Lambton County.
