Hello, bonjour
My name is Louis Guimond and I have just been appointed the Business Administrator for the Sarnia Bluewater Roman Catholic Family of Parishes. My family have been parishioners at Sacred Heart ever since we moved to the area 22 years ago. A move that formed part of my career progression in the Canadian Coast Guard.
A career that evolved over a 35-year time frame. It saw me sailing on Canada’s three oceans and the Great Lakes and a move to shore side management in Sarnia. In fact, my last sea posting was as Chief Engineer on the Griffon, a common sight on the St Clair. I held a number of management postings in the Coast Guard, which led me to Ottawa and the Maritimes, along with many challenging responsibilities in fields ranging from marine and civil engineering to national security. I completed my tour of duty at the Coast Guard College as Director of Studies responsible for the formation of new ships' officers.
Having decided to come home and spend more time with my family, I retired in 2015 and started doing volunteer work in the area. Currently I am the Board Treasurer at Bluewater Health and the President of the Centre culturel francophone Jolliet.
