The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was established in Canada in 1846 in Quebec City. In 1850 it was established in Toronto and in November 1956 the SSVP was aggregated with 4 parishes in Sarnia.
St. Thomas Aquinas was not one of those original 4 but joined sometime later.
In 1992 Maurice Simard was the president of the St. Thomas Aquinas Conference.
In 1994 Pierre Bisson was president.
In 1999 Br. Al Verstraaten was president.
In 2018 Monica Vautour became president.
During that time Fr. R. Charrette and Deacon David Cummings were Spiritual Advisors to our conference. In 1997 we had 5 members, and today we have 8 members.
Over the years some of the activities carried out by our Conference members are: assembling Yule Grow Hampers, weekly collections after Mass of monetary and food donations, assisted with clothing drives, raising funds for the Raising the Roof campaign, sponsoring children to attend SSVP camps, visiting the sick, home delivery of food, holding food drives and for 2 years, twinning with a conference in Haiti.
